The bad news: You're going bald. The good news: You're not alone. According to researchers, the chances of you losing your hair increases relative to your age, with thin locks affecting 30 percent of men in their 30s, 50 percent of men in their 50s, and so on. With everyone struggling, new tips, tools, and products are developed each year to head things off at the pass.
Odds are, your barber knows what these fixes are. But in order for him to help you, first you've got to help yourself. "As a barber, you want your client to feel good about himself when he leaves your chair," says Jason Culala, owner of The Original Grooming Experts in Toronto. "I'm not gonna lie, there are always a handful of gents who listen to your advice but still want to go against the grain. I don't want to give a haircut that I don't think suits the individual, but at the end of the day, it's my job to make the guy feel comfortable no matter what style he wants."
In other words, if your barber tells you the comb-over isn't working, trust him. He's only going to say it once. As for what does work, check out these barber-certified tips.
