Know when to fertilize.
Come spring, the trees start blooming and the snow melts and everyone gets the itch to get out and start working on the yard. In some climates, spring is not the right time of year to start tending to the lawn. It is important to know the period that grass is entering its most active season where you live and only fertilize when it is going to be the most effective. The EPA says that in cool climates, the period of maximum uptake for grass is spring and fall, and early and late summer in warmer climates.
