There is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog. A 2012 study published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology compared levels of the allergy-producing proteins found on dogs between different breeds and found that many so-called hypoallergenic dogs actually had more of the proteins on their bodies, though the levels found in the air and floor particles in homes were similar between dog breeds. So what's a dog-loving, allergy-prone guy to do? There are ways to make life manageable. When taken on individually, each of these items is probably not enough to make a difference — but if you follow most of this advice, you may be able to get some relief.
