Frequent fliers don't like to admit it, but packing can be tricky – especially if you don't have a strategy. Tired of walking around foreign cities in oddly creased pants and paying fees at check in, we reached out to packing expert Anne McAlpin, who gave us some tips on how to put our luggage to good use.
Make Your Clothes Multitask
"Pack things you can use more than one way, because you'll pack lighter," McAlpin says. She suggests a reversible belt with one black side and one brown, as well as convertible pants (whose legs zip off to become shorts) for anyone planning to spend time in the woods. McAlpin also points out that you only need one sweater, ideally one that can be worn without a shirt. "Men can get by with navy blue and tan," she says.
