Hotel Room Price is Too High
Years ago, I wrote a book titled How to Beat the High Cost of Travel for Frommer's. I got into a lot of negotiations and it was amazing. Particularly with hotels later in the day. I was astounded at how easy you could negotiate price of the room with the front desk. In this day and age, you're far more tempted to book a room with Booking.com or Hotel.com. But if you can be flexible, arrive early in the evening at your top choice. If it's late and the room is not filled and they don't fill it, the hotel receives zero dollars. Go in and say, "Hey it's late. I'm just going to wash up and sleep here. I don't want to spend $250. How's $100?" More than likely, they'll respond, "I can't give you anything for that, but I can do it for $140." Again, be businesslike and make it easy for them to help you.
