If we followed our natural cues for sleep, we would be getting adequate sleep. Sleep quality can be disturbed by many factors, including sleep apnea, underlying medical issues such as anemia or thyroid imbalance, and other factors such as chronic pains and depression. On the flip side, some people require excessive amounts of sleep and may have other sleep-related problems, including suffering from disorders such as narcolepsy.
