Before CES 2015 (the world's largest Consumer Electronics Show) gets officially underway in Las Vegas, there's CES Unveiled, billed as preview for the entire show. In fact, Unveiled is more like a frantic group press conference, as scores of companies debut their products to any reporter who pauses long enough at a given booth. After scouring the ballroom at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, we found 10 newly announced products worth keeping an eye on. From ambitious blue sky ideas in search of crowdfunding to smart little gadgets you can pick up later this month, here are some of the most innovative products we've seen so far.
3D Sound Labs Neoh
These headphones are promising something called "3D sound," an audio effect that's more than just marketing speak for surround sound. It's an interactive, directional step up, with audio that can shift from one ear to the other as you turn your head. We heard it for ourselves during a demo — standard, front-facing dialogue moved to the Neoh's left and right earcups to match our head movement. Granted, most people aren't playing head tennis while watching a movie, but the headphones picked up on even subtle motion, creating a sense of being a semi-active participant in the scene, instead of a completely removed observer. French startup 3D Sound Labs plans to start a crowdfunding campaign within a couple of weeks, with hopes of delivering the first units in the spring. [3dsoundlabs.com]
