Scott Spark 700 Ultimate Di2
There are bikes you can imagine going to your local shop, plunking down your credit card, and taking home with you. Then there are bikes like the Scott Spark 700 Ultimate Di2, which showcases bleeding edge technology. Built from carbon fiber, the Scott Spark is designed to be a lightweight, full-suspension cross-country bike. It includes the nimble 27.5 wheel size and 120mm of rear suspension. A Fox 42 Float provides 120mm of travel up front.
What makes the Spark Ultimate unique is its sophisticated electronic shifting and suspension control systems. The Spark was designed around Shimano's Di2 electronic system and Scott engineers integrated the battery into the frameset. The bike shifts with the push of a button, and unlike traditional cable-controlled shifting, Di2 works even when you're pushing on the pedals.
The Spark also comes with the Fox Electronic TwinLoc remote system to control the front and rear suspension on the Spark. Similarly to most Fox rear shocks, this has three settings: climb, trail, and descend. The electronic remote allows you to switch modes with the touch of a button. The front fork also locks out electronically for sprinting and climbing.
Additionally, the Spark boasts an adjustable geometry. An electronic system allows you to change the bottom bracket height by 6mm. A higher bottom bracket comes in handy for riding in terrain with rocks and roots that can grab at your pedals. According to Scott, the Spark 700 Ultimate weighs in at 22.3 pounds.
