Forget your poker losses by heading 35 miles northwest of the Las Vegas Strip, where you can get back to nature at Mt. Charleston. Temperatures on the mountain, part of Toiyabe National Forest, are about 30 degrees cooler than in Vegas. There are also far more pine trees and streams – though, strangely, fewer waterfalls.
