3. Backcountry (2015)
When a huge black bear attacks a couple in their tent, one of them sprays the creature in the face with capsicum deterrent (a form of pepper spray), causing the bear to retreat. Known as "bear spray," Ciarniello says this is an important safety tool in warding off an attack. "I highly recommend it. Bear spray is more effective than a firearm in deterring bears, particularly if you're not well-versed in using a firearm." As for the film's depiction of a bear stalking a human for miles and miles, the expert claims this too is accurate, though again, extremely unlikely to happen. "A predatory bear, and please note — this is extremely rare — will follow someone for a long, long distance and will keep on them. They'll just silently stalk you."
