So much a local favourite, even the regulars are reluctant to tell you about this historic find on downtown Aungier Street. Originally a medieval inn, The Swan as it currently stands has been sating the thirst of Dubliners since 1723. It's a real haunt for history buffs; the bar was used as a signalling post in the 1916 Irish Rebellion but nowadays its beautiful wooden interior is the perfect spot for great local banter until the wee hours. Well, 12:30am at least, this is still Dublin.
What to order:"Beer as cold as your ex's heart" is the motto here. Ask for a Crean's lager.
