The New York Style Hot Dog
What can really be said of the New York–Style hot dog? You can order one on every corner in Midtown all the way down to Coney Island. There may be no Major League baseball field, or maybe any building built for the purpose of observing others play sport, that doesn't sell them at its concessions as the go-to dog. It's so ubiquitous, it's beyond a food at this point; It's the Platonic hot dog. It's Jerry Orbach's lunch on every episode of Law & Order from 1991 to 2004, and it's easy to remember: the "usual" is any combination of ketchup, mustard, onion "sauce", and relish. In short: it's the classic and needs to be revered as such.
