People observe Holi, the Hindu celebration of color and love, in several countries, but it originated in India which remains its epicenter. Not all Holi celebrations in India are created equal, though. In Barsana, for example, women pummel men with sticks. To get the true Holi experience without the bruises, head to the temple towns of Mathura and Vrindavan to pelt fellow attendees with fistfuls of vivid dye. It's recommended that you grease yourself up with a little Vaseline beforehand in order to avoid wearing your Holi colors for months after the holiday.
