Route: Havel Loop
Distance: 55.5 miles
Berlin may be called the Grey City, but this ride is full of green vistas from the moment you leave the Lustgarten on Museum Island and roll away from the heart of town through Tiergarten Park. Urban routes don't get much prettier than the Havel Loop, which ushers you around the banks of the Havel River and alongside Grunewald Forest on the 6.5-mile Havelchaussee road, the second longest street in Berlin. About 25 miles into the ride, stop at Café Guam in the Dutch Quarter of Potsdam before pushing on to the picturesque lakeside village of Caputh, where Albert Einstein summered. Though there's never a dull moment on this ride, which features four rotaries, six bridges, fast straightaways and countless kooky suburbs, those looking for a longer, hillier spin should do the Oderbruch route.
