Best Road Bike
Winner: English Cycles
Each year, Rob English produces some of the most creative bikes on display at NAHBS. Winner of this year's Best Road Bike competition, this gravel grinder's most eye-catching feature is its skinny-tubed seat-stays. The frame gets its lateral stiffness from the chainstays and compliance from the longer seat-tube, which allows English to use thinner seat-stays to save weight (and for aesthetic appeal). The long seat post also provides a clever place to mount a third water bottle cage for long-distance rambling, while front and rear thru-axles mean the frameset is compatible with new, stiffer disk-compatible wheelsets. SRAM's new wireless eTap groupset, ENVE/Chris King wheels, and a sleek integrated bar-stem combo complete the build, along with a classic-looking pair of fat skin-wall tires.
