Sure, taking in the fireworks from a picnic blanket on the National Mall – among the country’s most vibrant displays each year – is a particularly American way to celebrate the Fourth. But starting off Independence Day with a hotdog from Ben’s Chili Bowl, a D.C. staple, while watching the Nationals take on the Chicago Cubs in America's pastime? That’s just downright patriotic.
