Basis is part of Intel, so the computer chip maker has a play in the fitness space. The Basis Peak showed at CES 2015 is for now an update, mostly to the firmware. One company rep described it as a "sleep and fitness tracker that also tells time." But it goes beyond that. Flip it over and you see sensors that continuously monitor your pulse, skin temperature, and perspiration levels. We also like that it can auto detect when you're running, biking, walking, or even sleeping — a big complaint by fitness band users is that they forget to put it to sleep or wake it up.
