Hyundai Sonata Plug-In
In addition to a Santa Cruz crossover hybrid pickup, Hyundai revealed its first-ever plug-in hybrid in the form of the 2016 Sonata, which has been slightly redesigned for the occasion. Hyundai says the Sonata will offer 22 miles in electric-only mode — the most of any midsize PHEV sedan — while mated to a six-speed automatic is a 50 kW electric motor 32 percent more powerful than the motor used in the current Sonata Hybrid. The PHEV’s gas engine produces 154 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque. Recharge time is approximately 2.5 hours using a 240V fast charger.
