Golf: Tin Cup (1996)
Former golf prodigy turned West Texas driving range pro Roy "Tin Cup" McAoy (Kevin Kostner) is the kind of guy who has all the talent in the world, but can't seem to get out of his own way. He can beat you with every facet of his game, smash all his clubs against a tree and play the round with a 7-iron, shoot 62 at the U.S. Open, and still find a way to lose in spectacular fashion because he won't lay up. He'd rather lose his way than win yours, an edict he spends most of the film trying to fight with the help of his shrink turned love interest turned enabler in the worst way. "You're right, Roy. Just knock it on. Let it rip." He does. But when you've got the girl, your friends, and a good story to tell over beers at the 19th hole, who needs a stupid trophy?
