Bret Easton Ellis Podcast
Hosts: Bret Easton Ellis
There's rarely a better ten minutes of pop culture commentary than the opening of each BEE podcast, and if that's all the American Psycho author offered fans, it would still make our list. But instead, he follows it with honest and thoughtful 90-minute (roughly) conversations with some of the most interesting and enigmatic people in film, books, TV, comedy, and music. The equally enigmatic Ellis isn't scared of arguing with guests or offending his audience, though he also doesn't take joy in it as he opens up on topics like criticism, drug use, narcissism, genius, failure, and the offensiveness of rape jokes. Instead, he's often willing to ask the tough and weird questions of his subjects, and dogged enough to eventually get the whole truth.
Best episode: Brat Pack fans will love his conversation with Molly Ringwald, and pop culture nerds will appreciate his discussion with Chuck Klosterman. But in the podcast's debut, Kanye West talks about Kanye West's genius in a two-part episode starring Kanye West. Enough said.
