Deadcast: Podcasts for Men
Hosts: Drew Magary and Tim Marchman
Deadspin is a dangerous mixture of brilliant sports journalism and unnerving cynicism that speaks to fans who are bored by the ESPN-ification of the industry. They want honesty, they want to lament with angry peers, challenge authority, and laugh at the absurdity of the game, but you can't do it properly without actually loving the thing you seem to hate. And as much as the site does that in text, gif, and video, Deadcast hosts Drew Magary and editor-in-chief Tim Marchman capture that glorious combination in an hour-long (and absolutely no more, per the show's strict rules) discussion of the week's topics. They aren't shy about calling out frauds, hating Duke, or telling the St. Louis Cardinals where they can shove their championship rings.
Best episode: The hosts assess the FBI's "wasteful dog-and-pony" show as they go after soccer officials in an episode appropriately titled "Are the FIFA Arrests Bullshit?"
