Brewer: Grupo Modelo (AB Inbev)
Style: Adjunct Lager
Sure, you can look at Estrella Jalisco as another adjunct lager from Anheuser-Busch — filled with sweet corn to bulk up the body on the cheap. But you could also see it as a slightly more flavorful alternative to all the fizzy yellow Mexican lagers on the shelves in clear bottles right now. The Mexican import shelf is already a packed one, and so we have to give it up to AB-Inbev for even attempting to enter a new market (not that they had any qualms about doing the same with craft beer), but we’re thankful they did it with Estrella Jalisco, a 106-year-old Guadalajara pilsner, which they launched in 10 states earlier this year.
