Brewer: Agua Mala
Style: Amber Ale
Agua Mala in Ensenada might have won the World Beer Cup a few years ago for its IPA, Astillero, but we’re forever drinking their lesser known amber ale, Marea Roja. This medium-bodied beer has a nice malty backbone with a clean hop finish. It’s got the right amount of fruity and citrusy flavors that makes it interesting enough to drink on its own, but it’s still mild enough to pair it with most foods. Distribution has been slowly expanding into Southern California, with most of the U.S.-bound kegs and bottles landing at liquor stores and Mexican restaurants in San Diego.
