Eureka Lemon & Marionberries
Founded in sleepy Santa Barbara in 1949, McConnell's is considered an American ice cream institution—and it's not hard to see why. Over the past week, we've tasted dozens upon dozens of ice creams, and McConnell's Eureka Lemon & Marionberries was the first pint to go. Of course, taste is subjective, but we dare anyone to try this flavor and not at least, like, momentarily ascend to heaven. Eureka Lemon & Marionberries has a tart lemon base and it is hard evidence that lemon deserves a place in ice cream as much as it does in sherbet. The lush richness of the lemon-infused ice cream is a revelation—and when paired with streaks of Oregon marionberry jam, the mouth feel for this ice cream can be only described as dreamy. And Eureka Lemon & Marionberries is dreamy: We haven't really discussed aesthetics in this article, but damn, McConnell's makes a pretty ice cream.
