The advantages of spring skiing often outweigh the disadvantage of damp corduroy. The arrival of the sun means you can ski in your shirtsleeves and the arrival of festival season means you can ski in your shirtsleeves to a slopeside party. If the winter is about getting radical, spring is about having a good time in ski towns full of lift operators looking to let off some steam. Here's where you should head this season if you want a great last run.
Black Jack Ski Resort, Michigan
Located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Black Jack Ski Resort makes up for what it lacks in vertical feet with enthusiasm, debauchery, and snowmobile trails. Black Jack makes every weekend in March another excuse to party, but our favorite is Pirate Weekend. On March 22 and 23, the entire resort gets transformed into a rum guzzling, peg leg racing, treasure hunting, good time. If you've never partied with UPPers (Upper Peninsula People), they're some of the friendliest folks you'll ever meet. As long as you bring an open attitude, a hunter orange vest, and a six pack of Old Style Beer, you'll be just fine.
