The advantages of spring skiing often outweigh the disadvantage of damp corduroy. The arrival of the sun means you can ski in your shirtsleeves and the arrival of festival season means you can ski in your shirtsleeves to a slopeside party. If the winter is about getting radical, spring is about having a good time in ski towns full of lift operators looking to let off some steam. Here's where you should head this season if you want a great last run.
Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Although it closes relatively early compared to many other major resorts in the west, Jackson Hole always finishes the season with a bang. This year, the Jackson Hole Rendevous, which runs from March 27 to 30, features après parties under the tram, free live music headlined by Michael Franti and Spearhead along with great events like the Marmot Coombs Classic on the mountain and the Pole, Peddle, Paddle in the valley, a relay race consisting of ski, bike, and kayak sections. Costumes are encouraged and the after party is a perennial favorite for locals and visitors alike. Late season deals offering two nights accommodation and a two day lift ticket for $300 bucks sweeten the deal and direct flights from New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, getting there for the weekend is fast and easy.
