Garmin Edge Explore 1000
The little sibling of the recently released Edge 1000, the Explore 1000 is geared toward touring and adventurous riders less concerned with training metrics. Although it isn't packed with the sportier features of the Edge 1000, like workouts and multiple activity profiles, this unit has several attributes its beefier brother doesn't. Picking the round-trip option, the Explore will give three different routes home to choose from. Best of all, it can sense a sudden deceleration and fall, and will message a pre-chosen number from your Bluetooth-connected smartphone, giving the exact spot of the accident. The Explore 1000 will retail for about $450 and will be available soon.
