UVEX Variotronic Sunglasses
With a sea of high-performance shades available, why did the Uvex Variotronic sunglasses make the list? Although photochromic (transition lenses) technology has been around for quite a while, most lenses react to the changing sunlight too slowly for cycling. If you're a mountain biker constantly weaving in and out of tree cover, it could even be dangerous. But thanks to a special photocell light sensor built into the glass, UVEX's lenses actually change color in about a tenth of a second. A button on the side of the glasses will also trigger the change. UVEX will be offering both a road and mountain biker version of the Variotronic glasses, starting at about $200 when they become available next spring.
