America is a land blessed with scenic roads. They unravel down coasts and pull taut across the plains. They wind up mountains and ensnare glacial lakes. And, everywhere you go, they are punctuated by pullouts, those gravel or asphalt outgrowths where motorists can pull over to stretch their legs and, perhaps, take in the view. Scenery might not be the only reason to pull over, but it is the best and these are the best spots to take it all in. Just be sure your camera is in the car.
Washington Route 410
Enjoy views of Mt. Rainier at this pullout near Tipsoo Lake. Washington 410 switchbacks up the mountains outside Enumclaw, near the north entrances to Mt. Rainier National Park. From the side of the road, motorists can look out toward the 14,410-foot, snow-covered peak. The landscape is intimidating – and highly volcanic – but beautiful.
