The Winter Spice

A group led by current and former NFL players London Fletcher, Takeo Spikes, Mario Haggan, George Wilson, Nate Clements, and Terrence McGee has created a new nightclub called Recess, above Florida State University's brand-new entertainment center in Tallahasse. The pool lounge overlooks historic Doak Campbell Stadium, home of the Seminoles football team, and turns into a dance club late at night.

Recess bartender David English has created a seasonal cocktail that is perfect for the late fall and early winter. The Winter Spice came about when English began thinking about the flavors that are especially suited to this time of year. "I really wanted to incorporate sweet bitters and . . . whiskey and pumpkin pie," says English. "A few dashes of Angostura bitters tie it all together. Additionally, the Winter Spice pairs really well with traditional holiday fare: ham, turkey, dressing, the works. It's the perfect complement to a festive meal."

And, yes, it pairs well with football.
