1931: Chevrolet Pickup
There were pickup trucks based on cars long before this Chevrolet entered production — but that's not the same as a real truck. And Dodge was selling trucks as early as 1918, but you had to add your own bed to make it a pickup. The '31 Chevy is America's first factory-made, complete from the radiator to the cargo box tailgate, pickup with a real truck chassis.
Why it's uniquely American: In America we don't separate work and play.
