1941: Dodge WC Military Truck
Of all the great vehicles America built to help win World War II, none was more versatile than the Dodge WC. Ambulances, command cars, reconnaissance vehicles, wreckers, maintenance runabouts, weapons carriers, and other wartime jobs were give to this incredibly tough and versatile, four-wheel drive Dodge. And after the war, Dodge took the basic design and created the equally awesome Power Wagon for civilian use. It changed the country's expectations about what a truck is capable of doing.
Why it's uniquely American: It doesn't matter what a thing is designed to. It's what it can do.
