1957: 200si Mille Miglia
Deemed by many as the first truly modern Maserati, the Italian automaker achieved huge success thanks to this model, of which 32 were built of the 200s and its 200si variant. Along with coachwork by Carrozzeria Fantuzzi, the 200si Mille Miglia competed in the 2 litre class of late-1950s European and American sports car racing. Its alluring combination of rarity, speed and beauty helped Maserati form the reputation it has today: delivering flat out power with benchmark styling. In 2011, one example went up for sale in Geneva for $2 million.
