Since his 2008 ascension to the NBA, 23-year-old Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love has emerged as one of the league's most dynamic young talents: He's a relentless rebounder who holds the record for the longest streak of double-doubles, and finished sixth in MVP voting this season. Love's offseason allows little time for slacking. When the sharpshooting threat isn't out promoting random video games – sports games and shooters are his thing – he's preparing to compete in London this summer as a member of the USA Olympic Basketball team. Still, Love managed to get an afternoon off to take us on a cruise through Los Angeles, where he talked about his musical heroes (he happens to be the nephew of Beach Boys co-founder Mike Love), clothing preferences, and how he ended up with a grand piano in his living room. Steinway Model S Baby Grand Piano
Love followed in the footsteps of his father, who did a four-year tour in the NBA. But Love says his pop's influence halted when it came to appreciating the arts. "Music is something I feel is in me, but it wasn't really instilled in me at an early age," he says. "It was more on the sports side." Perhaps embodying his passion for music, Love invested in a 5-foot ebony Steinway Model S Baby Grand piano for his home in Minnesota. Granted he doesn't know how to play yet, but he's hopeful. "I don't know if I'll have time," he admits. "I'm hoping I'll be able to pick it up."
