Frenchmen Street, New Orleans
Forget Bourbon Street – an easy thing to do, after a sufficient number of Hurricanes. The hippest blocks in New Orleans are just outside the French Quarter on Frenchmen Street, in the Faubourg Marigny district. Like St. Marks Place, there's plenty of history on Frenchmen, which was once the property of the wealthy creole Bernard de Marigny. Two hundred years ago, he carved up his plantation into the neighborhood lots still in existence today.
