According to Ferriss, time spent participating in activities for their own sake is as important as training time. "Exercise is very results driven, while recreation is appreciation or enjoyment driven," says Ferriss, who can be found surfing or hiking around San Francisco. "This is not for exercise," he makes clear. It is something he does just for the hell of it, and that is just fine.
