A collaboration with the famed Franklin Barbecue, the Smoked Porter features malts smoked at the pit – because once you've come for the brisket, you might as well go all out. The beer's a limited release in draft form and can often be found on tap at Franklin (we've also heard rumors of forthcoming 22-ounce bottles). With a dominant, upfront smoke aroma and flavor and a lingering roasty mellowness, it's as much smoke as it is liquid. And since it was first released in mid-summer, it's sessionable for the Texas heat, unlike most smoked porters. [thirstyplanet.net]
