Mazot, Chamonix, France
Originally built by French and Swiss farmers in the 18th century, mazots were separate small storehouses designed to hold valuables safely if the main farmhouse burned down. With advancements in designs over the years, these unique structures became obsolete, but luckily some remained and have been turned into an alpine version of the tiny house. This quaint one-room house offers a home base to relax in comfort between the numerous adventure possibilities that fill the Chamonix Valley. The climbing, skiing, paragliding, and touring in this area are some of the best in Europe and have been drawing visitors for centuries.
