Mid Mountain Trail, Park City, Utah
Why Run It: Ever run a ribbon of singletrack trail cutting through golden aspen groves, with mountain views all around? If not, Park City's Mid Mountain Trail delivers. The trail hovers around 8,000 feet in elevation for roughly 28 miles, cutting across the Wasatch Mountains and connecting three resorts: Deer Valley, Park City and The Canyons. There are benefits to running this high — views forever, cooler temps and high altitude trees (those flittering aspens, and super-green fir trees). And if you're lucky, and early dusting of snow paints the surrounding peaks and coats frosting on the trees. Multiple feeder trails from the valley below offer loop options. Oh, and beware of wildlife: moose, deer and elk like this trail, too.
