Bottle openers, when needed the most, can be hard to come by (unless, like us, you keep at least two on your keychain and others in most parts of the house). Because of this, creative entrepreneurs have attempted to solve the bottle opener problem in many ways. But if having a bottle opener in your pocket, built into your shoe, or your beach towel just wasn’t convenient enough, BBO is here to save your summer.
Short for “Boardshort Bottle Opener,” BBO is a patent-pending line of boardshorts with a built-in bottle opener under a side pocket–like flap. Small and discreet (kind of like a black rubber squashed nipple), the bottle opener is not visible when looking at the shorts until... heyo!
Available in three boardshort styles and two “walkshort," in a variety of colorways, the shorts themselves are pretty fashionable (considering how novelty items can usually go). Supposedly, X-Games gold medalist Pancho Sullivan even likes them, according to a Kickstarter that was initially set up for the product.
There are even special styles for fishing enthusiasts, containing a separate plier pocket with a canvas backing.
With the added coolness points you’ll get by being the guy with the bottle opener in your pants (sorry ladies, these are only offered in men’s sizes right now), it doesn’t really matter what they look like, it’s about priorities. Worst comes to worst, when those waves get cranking, you’ll be the guy with the bottle opener fused to his pants, and that’s not a bad guy to be.
