Apple's New Red iPhone Is Now for Sale

Formerly out of commission on Friday morning, Apple’s online store is back up and running. The landing page teaser read, “We’ve got something special in store for you,” and now we know exactly what.

Last week Apple announced it would be tweaking its product line, offering a lower-cost iPad, new storage options for the iPhone SE, a Snapchat-iMovie mashup-style app called Clips, new iPhone cases, and new Apple Watch bands. The storefront reflects these new additions, and it also prominently features a new celebrity among the Apple product line: the red iPhone.

Apple has partnered in the past with an organization called (RED) to release special editions of its products in a brilliant red hue. A portion of each sale goes to (RED), which uses the money to contribute to HIV and AIDS research around the world. The red iPhone is the latest and greatest fruit of that partnership, and with the Apple Store back online after Tuesday’s announcement, the phone is available for sale to the public.

The red iPhone only differs from the current iPhone 7 in two ways: It comes in a crimson color, a galaxy away from the innumerable black, white, and gray smartphones out there. And it's only available in 128 GB and 256 GB storage sizes. The 4.7-inch will run you $749 or $849, depending on which storage option you select. The 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will cost $869 or $969.
