Posting a Personal Message to Your Significant Other
Modern love is supposed to be loud and bold, fueled by passionate public pronouncements fit for the third act of a romantic comedy. We get that. Professions of love are important for both parties involved and it’s actually healthy not to hide your feelings. But private messages should remain private. When you liked someone in eighth grade, you didn't write a note on the chalkboard during lunch. You scribbled down something embarrassing and secretly passed it while the teacher wasn't looking, hoping no other human would ever see it. Technology has made this even simpler: Send a text, an email, a Snapchat, or hell, if you’re already on Facebook, its messenger app is perfect for one-on-one conversations. So please spare us the sonnet of awkward nicknames.
