Salomon QST 118

As one of the widest skis we tested, the QST 118 naturally floated above powder better than the others. Yet surprisingly, it maneuvered like a much narrower ski, thanks to its poplar-wood core (blanketed with a blend of carbon and flax), which keeps the ski extraordinarily light. At just over four pounds each, the QST briskly muscles around trees and through bumps. [$900; backcountry.com]
