Opinel No. 8 L.L. Bean Moosehead Knife
We appreciate the understated aesthetic and practicality of Opinel knives, but their new collaboration with L.L. Bean adds a timeless tale to that sleek wooden handle. Dubbed “Moosehead” after a lake in Maine, the knife is made from maple logs that sank to the bottom of the lake during the logging boom in the early 1900s. Thanks to cold temperatures and little oxygen, the timber was reclaimed from Moosehead Lake 100 years later in the same condition it sank. The No. 8 size is useful for light tasks around the home or campsite.
