2. Columbia Titanium Canuck

This is the first time Columbia has combined its two signature technologies: Omni-Heat and OutDry Extreme. The first consists of pinhole-size reflector dots that decorate the internal lining to bounce heat inward, and the second is a breathable membrane that’s stiff enough to stand up on its own — so you can eliminate the glued-on reinforcement fabrics that add weight and bulk. As a result, you have a technical upper that is equally good at insulating (it’s rated for temps as low as -65 degrees Fahrenheit) and keeping you from overheating. But the shoe isn’t designed for comfort alone — it’s also supposed to keep you upright. For that, Columbia secured an exclusive partnership with Michelin to use the tire company’s Ice Control technology, sticky rubber designed to grip in sub-zero conditions, featuring heavy lugs like you’d see on an all-weather road tire.
