KEEN UNEEK Sandal

A day on the water calls for a solid pair of sandals. With tons of chunky water shoes to choose from, finding the ones that hold up when you're in action, on the boat, or just walking over rocky beds can be tough. That's where Portland, Oregon-based company, KEEN, comes in with their new UNEEK sandal.

Don't be fooled by the simplicity — the UNEEKs are built for performance. With two woven cords keeping the sandal secure on your foot (and allowing for more breathability), a cushioned polyurethane midsole and a razor-siped rubber outsole offer a great grip on wet rocks. The UNEEKs cinch up tight and provide remarkably good support — even suitable for light hiking.

After wearing the UNEEKs to tromp around the beaches and streets of Bonaire for a week, we noticed they shed water better than other comparable sandals we’ve worn. But the best thing about the UNEEK is still its minimalist design. Though sand and small rocks regularly found their way in (and one of our toes was rubbed raw by the nylon cord), having less neoprene surrounding our feet made it easier to keep them clean, dry, and smelling fresh after wading through the water all day. At $100, try to remember to take them off before bed.
