Head YouTek Graphene Tennis Racquets

In 2010, a research project on the promising one-atom-thick carbon film called graphene grabbed attention by winning the Nobel Prize in Physics. Just over two years later, the geeky material has broken out of the lab: It hits center court this spring in Head's Graphene line of racquets. The strength and versatility of the material let designers move weight from the racquet's center toward the head and handle, allowing for more powerful hits. Novak Djokovic will swing a version on tour, but the tech is intended to benefit all players, says Roger Petersman, Head's Tennis Category Manager: "The coolest thing is that we can produce racquets that have the power level of the best players on tour, but they're lighter, so more players can effectively swing them."
