An influx of new virtual reality devices and apps tried to make working out more fun and whimsical by transporting users to alternate realities (your elliptical machine becomes a magical Pegasus!) and adding elements of gamification.

Instead: Run a mile. Push a sled. Lift a barbell. Seriously — do anything else. It doesn’t matter how advanced or cutting edge a VR headset is — you will still look like an idiot wearing it. Wipe that dumb look off your face, and stop swatting at the air. You’re not a child, and this isn’t an arcade.
