With its hand-built aluminum frame, the Century ($950 direct from Diamondback) is the perfect entry-level road bike. It’s lightweight and features a relaxed frame geometry that aims to keep you comfortable during longer rides. The position is slightly more upright than a traditional race position, which is easier on the body and more convenient for chatting with your ride companions.
The Century features Shimano’s Sora groupset, which features a 2x9 set-up. Compact 50-34 chainrings up front pair with a 11-32 cassette in the rear to give you a wide range of gear combinations.
Like many new road bikes, the Century includes disc brakes. The Tektra Mira brakes are cable-actuated, which offers the stopping power of disc without the maintenance that hydraulic set-ups can require. Michelin 28c tires complete the kit and offer cushioned ride even on less-than-perfect road surfaces.
