Diarrhea? Try probiotics
Diarrhea is miserable, annoying, and embarrassing, so you’ll do anything to make it stop. If it’s caused by food poisoning or something that just didn’t sit right in your stomach, you can’t do much but sip fluids to stay hydrated and wait it out. But if diarrhea lasts a few days and you suspect you have a stomach bug — or if you’re taking antibiotics, which often trigger it — take a probiotic. Plenty of research shows that these beneficial bacteria, especially Lactobacilli, can shorten the duration of your woes. A pharmacist or staffer at your favorite health food store should be able to recommend a good supplement like this one, or even a probiotic-rich yogurt.
